Since 1975, pilgrims from across the Diocese have journeyed together in faith—walking, praying, and building friendships along the way.
From Saturday 9th to Sunday 24 August, the Arundel & Brighton Ecumenical Walking Pilgrimage marks its 50th anniversary, visiting all 11 new diocesan parishes, and finishing right here in our Deanery in Eastbourne!
This is an open invitation to all our parishioners who are able to to walk any part of the route, whether it’s a day in a nearby area, a weekend, or the final stretch into Eastbourne. It’s a beautiful way to meet others, grow in faith, and be part of a joyful, prayerful tradition.
We would especially love to see young people and families join in. This day is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to journey together in faith and make memories along the way. Remember, the pilgrimage routes were originally organised by young people—who completed it in all kinds of weather—so their spirit is very much alive!
The final walking day, Friday 22 August, from Seaford to Eastbourne is approximately 14 miles, but walkers can join halfway at East Dean for a shorter, family-friendly 7-mile walk. If walking isn’t possible, consider being part of the welcome group in Eastbourne, greeting pilgrims as they arrive. Your support makes the journey even more special.
